For 2024, the Triumph Tiger 1200 family sees several upgrades, making these already impressive adventure motorcycles even more refined and capable. With a host of new features, including an updated T-Plane triple engine, enhanced comfort for long-distance touring, improved cornering clearance, and the addition of Active Preload Reduction across the range, Triumph has raised the bar for large-capacity adventure bikes.
The Tiger 1200’s 1160cc triple engine gets a significant upgrade for 2024, offering a smoother, more refined experience while maintaining its unique triple character. With changes to the crankshaft, alternator rotor, and balancer, Triumph engineers have increased engine inertia and optimized torque delivery at lower revs. This means better control at low speeds, a more refined ride overall, and a more confident feel when maneuvering in tight spaces.
Additionally, the updated clutch design promises smoother engagement when shifting into first gear, enhancing the overall riding experience, particularly in stop-start conditions.
For those who love long-distance touring, the Tiger 1200 Rally Explorer delivers enhanced all-day comfort. The bike now features a revised engine balancing strategy, which reduces vibrations felt through the handlebars, seat, and footpegs, ensuring a smoother ride over extended periods. The introduction of dampened handlebars and risers on the GT Pro and Rally Pro models further enhances comfort by improving mirror visibility and reducing vibrations.
The rider seat has also been reworked with a flatter profile, providing more space and reducing fatigue during longer rides. The optional low seat accessory offers a 20mm seat height reduction, bringing the lowest seat height to 855mm on the Rally Pro model. This gives shorter riders added comfort without sacrificing control.
To improve cornering performance, Triumph has increased the ground clearance on the GT Pro and GT Explorer models. This was achieved by raising the footpeg position, giving riders more confidence when leaning into corners. Additionally, the introduction of Active Preload Reduction allows riders to lower the seat height by up to 20mm at the press of a button, making the bike more accessible for a wider range of riders.
The Tiger 1200 range now offers exciting new color options for 2024. The GT Pro and GT Explorer, designed for road-focused adventures, are now available in stunning Carnival Red, alongside the classic Snowdonia White and Sapphire Black. The Rally Pro and Rally Explorer, built for off-road terrain, are offered in stylish new Matt Sandstorm and Jet Black, in addition to the popular Matt Khaki.
With 150PS at 9,000rpm and 130Nm at 7,000rpm, the Tiger 1200's T-plane triple engine remains one of the most powerful in its class. Its uneven firing order enhances low-down tractability, making it ideal for both on-road and off-road riding. The bike’s lightweight shaft drive ensures reliable performance without the need for regular maintenance, making it perfect for adventure riders.
The Triumph Tiger 1200 comes with a host of technology features designed to enhance safety and rider control. These include:
Additionally, the Tiger 1200 GT Explorer and Rally Explorer models come with standard heated seats and grips, along with a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System and Hill Hold Control, adding even more to the bike’s touring capabilities.
For those looking to outfit their Tiger 1200 for extended trips, Triumph offers over 50 accessories, including full luggage systems developed in partnership with Givi. These include Trekker panniers, a 52-liter top box, and Expedition panniers for those who need extra storage. Riders can also opt for protective accessories like stainless steel engine and tank protection, along with heated seating options for both rider and pillion.
The Triumph Tiger 1200 starts at £17,295 for the GT Pro, offering excellent value considering the extensive list of features and technology. The new models will be available in Triumph dealerships from the end of April 2024, and interested riders can visit Triumph Motorcycles to learn more or place an order.
The Triumph Tiger 1200 Rally Explorer is a bike that has evolved to meet the demands of the most adventurous riders. Whether you're looking for a road-focused ride with the GT Pro, or off-road supremacy with the Rally Explorer, the 2024 Tiger 1200 family delivers superior performance, comfort, and technology for any journey.
